Why I will not host 2022 get-together – Abiodun

As a result of the fourth wave of COVID-19 in the country, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has said he would not host any get-together to mark the new year 2022.

In a statement in Abeokuta by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, the governor said the announcement had become necessary to clear the speculations that he would be hosting a party today at his Iperu-Remo home.

“The usual celebration will not hold this year to avoid undermining the efforts to combat COVID-19 in the state and rolling back the success that has been recorded, particularly in view of the fourth wave of the pandemic.”, the statement continued.

Abiodun enjoins the residents of the state to celeberate in moderation and observe all COVID-19 protocols.

He expressed hope that ongoing global efforts would soon sufficiently tame the pandemic to allow for the usual pomp, peasantry and large gathering that new year get-together attracts.

“Once again, he wishes all a happy and more prosperous new year, the statement concluded.
