TRIBUTE TO CHIEF ABEL OGOOLUWA BANKOLE @ 70: WHAT’S IN A NAME:

Born 70 years ago in the village called Ibogun Akiode, a rural Owu community, without modern amenities, to a peasant farmer and a petty trader.
He was named on the 8th day without merriments. But he received a name THE GLORY OF GOD which marked him out for success in life. He grew up in the village, played with sand without special dress with mucus running down his nostrils.  Baba re nko? O yoto. Iya re nko? O yoto.hen hen hen. Meaning: How is your father? He went to the farm. How is your mother? She went to the river. Sobbing.
He attended the village primary school courtesy of FREE PRIMARY EDUCATION program of Obafemi Awolowo government of the mid 50s. He passed out with excellent grades and proceeded to A Modern Secondary school in Ifo, yet the Glory of God was upon him. He passed out and furthered his education at the TRADE CENTRE YABA to study Painting & Decoration.
He was employed by the ICI Paints factory, Ikeja. The glory continued to mark him out. Like Gideon, while relaxing under a tree at break time, the white man saw in him a glorious future others could not see and decided to send him to ICI UK plant for training.  By the reason of the anointing, he excelled. Came back and worked for his sponsors.
He left ICI and ventured into partnership on few occasions and backed out when he realized that his vision and goals could not be attained with such arrangement. Like biblical Moses he resigned and dropped the Royal pleasure of that time (Toyota Crown) for a Beetle car to enable him pursue greater glory.
He studied and passed his GCE O and A levels privately and gained admission into the prestigious University of Lagos for his degree program and studied Business Admin.
To support himself and family while advancing his education, he started producing paints and wood finishes at his back yard in Ifako with drums and sticks. His marketing team was made up of his immediate family initially.
He was not satisfied, the glory continued to push him on to establish AGOB Chemicals, Premier Paints Ltd and plc; Mercyland international schools and others.
In summary:
Seeeth thou a man diligent in his duties, he will stand before kings.
Two major things determine your value in life: The Anointing, some call it Glory, Mercy or Favour of God and secondly where you choose to Position yourself. OgoOluwa Bankole carries the GLORY by virtue of his name and also Positioned himself amongst Princes.
OgoOluwa Bankole is visionary and a go-getter. To say he is intelligent is saying the obvious. He is diligent and usually not satisfied with status quo; always looking for ways to make good better and better best.
He is socially sociable.
A good family man, who not only sees his family as his wives and children, but all his relations far and near. He is ready to help, advise and motivate but inpatient with laziness.
Humorous and frank; those who matter dont mind and those who mind dont matter. Ishan orun i baaja !!!
Happy birthday dear brother. I wish you longer life, excellent health and more prosperity and abundance of goodness on all sides. Ye shall not sorrow. You shall continue to grow from glory to glory.
ORUKO OMO L’ONRO OMO.
