Three Lagos-based robbery suspects arrested in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers who allegedly came from Lagos State to carry out robbery operations in the state.

The trio of Samuel Sunday, 20, Adeleke Mustapha 22 and Joel Rotimi, 19 were arrested following a distress call received by the police in Ajuwon that armed hoodlums numbering about six have invaded the area dispossessing innocent members of the community of their valuables.

The Public Relations Officer of the command, Abimbola Oyeyemi in a statememt said upon the distress call, the DPO Ajuwon, Andrew Akinseye, a Superintendent of Police quickly led his men to the area where the hoodlums took to their heels on sighting policemen but were chased and later apprehended.

Oyeyemi disclosed that items recovered from them were a cut-to-size locally made pistol, four Bajaj motorcycles, weeds suspected to be “India hemp”, two voters and two national Identity cards.

He added that the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Edward Awolowo Ajogun, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to state criminal investigation and intelligence department for discreet investigation.

The PPRO also appealed to members of the public to always make use of the command’s control room numbers, 08081770416 & 08081770419 whenever in distress for the police to respond swiftly.
