It was celebration of God’s favour and mercy as Mrs. Oluyemisi Olaitan Odunsi and Mrs. Mary Adefisayo Odunlami retired from teaching, a profession they  loved  and passionately embraced in their early lives.

The duo literarily dropped their  chalks  at the Owu Methodist Primary School. Oke-Okori, Abeokuta, Ogun State capital  earlier this month.

While Odunsi  was born on 18th Marh, 1962, into the family of the lates Pa Julius Soanke Soyemi and Mrs. Felicia Modupe Soyemi at Oke-Agbo, Ijebu-Igbo, Ogun State,  Odunlami,  on her part hailed from  Erunmu,  Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State and had her teaching training at the then popular St. Leos’ Teacher Training College, Onikoko, Abeokuta for her Grade II TC.

Odunsi, attended  the Teachers’ Training College at Oru-Ijebu and went further for her National Certificate in Education, Kaduna and commenced her teaching career at the United Primary School Irogun-Olorunda, via Ilaro, Ogun State, from where she was posted to the U.A.M.C, Eleja, Ilaro.

Later, she was transferred to Ansar-ud-deen Primary School, I, Ilisan Remo, where she worked actively for some years before she was posted to Ikenne-Remo, where she worked at two different schools.  She continued her teaching career at the Army Children School III Alamala and Army Children School II Lafenwa Abeokuta.

She later became an Assistant Head Teacher at St. Mathew Primary School I Idi-Emi and continued at Ansar-ud-deen Main School Kemta, I Ilawo, Abeokuta.  She retired at the peak of her career as the Head Teacher at Owu Methodist Primary School, Oke Sokoro, Abeokuta.

The grand mother, Odunsi is happily married to Mr. Odunsi Temitayo Opeoluwa and the union is blessed with wonderful children and grand children.

Odunlami,  was born about five and a half decades ago to the family of Adedokun A. Fashina and Madam Olajumoke Fasina and attended the Seventh Day Adventist Primary School Onipasan Agodi Ibadan for her basic education, after which she proceeded to the Adventist Grammar School, Ede, Osun State for her secondary education.

She started her teaching career at Odeda Local Government School in Odeda Local Government Area of Abeokuta and had also  taught in the following schools; St. Luke’s Anglican Primary School, Ibara Orile, Army Children School II Lafenwa, Abeokuta, and Owu Methodist Primary School, Oke -Sokori, Abeokuta  where she retired this month.
