Rotary Governor, District 9110, Rotarian Kola Sodipo, has led a team of Rotarians including the President of Abeokuta Rotary Club, Rot. Lateef Rabiu, to donate free uniforms, sandals and other school materials to the pupils of Akinale Baptist Day School,
The donation was made possible by the earlier adoption of Akinale Town as a pivotal project town by the Rotary Club of Abeokuta.
Akinale Baptist Day School was established by the Baptist Mission from Abeokuta in 1921 and has since produced many prominent Nigerians, who hail from different villages within the axis.
The current Towulade of Akinale, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye, a front line journalist, public relations icon and lawyer, is a product of the school where he was the prefect of the 1958 set.
The governor, expressed delight that Akinale had been transformed from a rusty hamlet into a town of modern day, adding that the Rotary Club finds it pleasurable to compliment the efforts of the town’s traditional ruler through the development of its human infrastructure.
He recounted the club’s earlier exploit by empowering the youth and the women through adult literacy program and vocation training which is sustaining the economy of the community.
In primary health projects, the community has on several occasions been given free drugs, free medical examinations and eye glasses to correct the people’s sight.
Dr. Sodipo enjoined the school pupils to utilise the facilities given them well and strife to grow as good citizens of Nigeria.
Oba Ogunleye, paid glowing tributes to members of the Rotary Club Abeokuta for their regular humanitarian services to the community and prayed abundant blessings for their members.
