ONIROLU INSTALS AWODIPE AS ASIWAJU IROLU-REMO!

A turbine engineer and power expert,  Engr. (Chief) ‘Yomi Awodipe, 76, has been installed the Asiwaju of Irolu, in  Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State amid pomp.
The Onirolu of Irolu, Oba Sikiru Adeilo Ajibowu Adeyiga, who  performed the installation as part of his coronation anniversary, described Awodipe as a rare great son of the town, whose love for it is unparalled.
“Chief Awodipe is a gentleman, who loves Irolu and someone who loves to assist. It is as a result of this that God continues to lift him up and will continue to do so. God Almighty that has been lifting him up for many years will never bring him down”, the traditional ruler prayed.
A community leader of note,  Onirolu said Awodipe had performed very well in the development of his town and deserved the honour.
Tola Adekoya, who read Awodipe’s citation  recalled that the Asiwaju was the  chairman of Irolu Development Council between 1989 and 1996.
During his tenure, he  noted that he completed the Irolu Town Hall Building, provided borehole water system, established Irolu Community Bank, Irolu Police Post, as well as donated  a set of classrooms for the Irolu Community Secondary School.
According to him, Awodipe also donated classrooms for the Irolu Community  Secondary School and a building for Irolu Maternity Hospital.
He was honoured with the titles of Asiwaju Odo of Irolu-Remo in 1992 by Oba  Adeyiga and the Akeweje of Remoland by the late Akarigbo of Remoland, Oba M.A. Sonariwo in July 2000, while in 2012, he was installed the Asiwaju of Irolu-Remo.
A fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Awodipe is also a registered engineer in Nigeria, United Kingdom and the United States.
As a Christian, Awodipe is a staunch Methodist, where he is a member of many societies in the  bran hes of the church in Yaba and Irolu.
The past President of Irolu Country Club and Ikeja Lions Club,  Awodipe, also belongs to many other social clubs like the Lagos Island Club, Lagos Country Club and Emeralds Club of Lagos among others.
The Asiwaju Irolu-Remo is happily married to Chief (Mrs.) Mosunmola Aderinola Awodipe, Yeyemeso, of Irolu and Yeye Akeweje of Remoland  and blessed with many  children and grand children.
Traditional rulers who attended the ceremony were the Alaperu of Iperu, Oba Idowu Basebo, the Odemo of Isara, Oba A.A. Mayungbe, Ewusi of Makun-Sagamu , Alaye-Ode, Oba Alidu Osho, Alakenne of Ikenne,  Oba Adeyinka Onatade, Oniraye of Iraye, Oba Monsur Owodina, Onidotun of Idotun-Remo, Oba O. Solarin, Elepeso of Epeso, Oba Mukaila Akanji Olabinjo,  Alariye of Ariye land, Oba Kunle Solomon, Amesho of Opo,  Oba Mufutau Sanni, 
Other dignitaries were one of the long time friends of the Asiwaju, Admiral Adelanwa, Very. Rev. Mebule of Methodist Church, Engr. Ayo Lawal, Captain  Dapo Ogunnaike, Kola Adekoya, Chief (Mrs.) Sotubo, nee Odukale, Otunba Yomi Ogunnusi, Chief (Mrs.) Alake Sobo, Otunba Tele Sonowo, Most. Sup. Kayode Awodipe, Sup. Evang.
