Ogun State government has announced the transition of Olowu of Owu, Abeokuta Oba Adegboyega Dosunmu.
The announcement came two days after the rumoured passage of the 13th Olowu in Abeokuta.
Olowu has been out of circulation in recent time, forcing the Balogun of Owu, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo to perform most of his functions.
The last Odun Omo Olowu was without the late dramatist, broadcaster and television producer.
The late Olowu, who emerged the candidate of the Amororo Ruling House, became Oba in 2005 after the demise of late Oba Adisa Odeleye, an architect of repute, who joined his ancestors in 2003.
The government said Oba Dosunmu passed on Sunday, December 12 after a brief illness.
Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Afolabi Afuwape through Chief Press Secretary to Governor Dapo Abiodun, Kunle Somorin expressed his condolences to the chiefs and people of Owu over the demise of the first class traditional ruler..
The statement reads: “Afuwape said the state mourns the veteran TV producer who ascended the throne in 2005 as the 13th Olowu after Oba Adewale Adisa Odeleye, Lagbedu 1 who transited to glory in 2003.
On his part, Abiodun described late Owu monarch as a man of peace and a passionate supporter.
While urging them to take solace in the lasting impact the late Oba had on his domain, Abiodun prayed that “God Almighty grants kabiyesi’s soul eternal repose and the people he left behind the fortitude to bear this loss”, the statement concluded
