OGUN: MAKAMA TAKES OVER FROM ILIYASU AS CP

A new Commissioner of Police, (CP),has resumed duty at the Eleweran Headquarters of the Ogun State Police Command.The new helsman,  Badhir Dabup Makama,who  was deployed from Akwa Ibom State, succeeded the erstwhile CP, Ahmed Iliyasu, who has been in charge of the state since June 2016.Makama, who hails from Jos, Plateau State capital, was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in 1986 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP)He has been credited as among the seven pioneer United Kingdom-trained community policing officers in the country.Thereafter, the mew CP, who  has served in different police formations and capacities,  including the Special Investigation Unit, Abuja is also linked with the establishment of community policing in Enugu, Kano, Jigawa amd Benue states.A graduate of Bayero University, Kano,  where he studied Sociology, Makama, also bagged Masters degree in Law and Criminal Jusisprudence in the same institution.Police Public Relations in the state, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police,in a statement said: “Makama was once an Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in Anambra State; an Area Commander, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.Oyeyemi added: ” He also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in Kano State, as well as Depity Commissioner of Police in charge of Special Protection Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja.”CP Makama was later posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration in Anambra State, from where he was promoted to the rank of Commissioner of Police in 2016 and posted to Benue State.”From Benue State, he was posted to Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID), Abuja as the Commissioner of Police in  charge of Administration and later posted as Commissioner of Police  Kwara State.”His last place of duty was Akwa Ibom State, before his deplpyment to Ogun State as the new helsman in the state”, Oyeyemi stated.
