Youth from several towns and villages on the Abeokuta-Lagos axial road, thronged the ancient town of Akinale in Ewekoro Local government of Ogun State on Thursday to celebrate new year carnival.
The youth estimated in hundreds strolled into the town in droves and were entertained by their hosts, “Ago Ijaye Youth Akinale”, a sub-sectional group of youth movement in Akinale under the governance of Towulade Akinale, Oba Olufemi Ogunleye.
Kabiyesi, who entered the carnival arena at about 1 am this morning to felicitate with the youth, congratulated the organisers of the carnival for such a unified assemblage of able-bodied youth in the area.
Oba Ogunleye enjoined the youth to make as their new year resolution how to be self-developed in one vocation or the other in order to be productive in Nigeria’s economic growth.
The youth, kabiyesi cautioned, should eschew bad behaviour and imbibe the native values with which their parents were known and respected.
Towulade warned the youth particularly against drug addiction and other social maladies, stressing that with elections nearby, the youth should stare clear of being used as canon folders by politicians.
“Those of you who are eligible to vote should obey electoral rules, vote and watch your vote counted at distance without molesting anyone” Oba Ogunleye charged.
The fun did not exclude the traditional ruler who joined the youth in jiggling the bodies in response to the frenzy music at the event.
