JMK: Daniel, Isola, APC, PDP, others mourn JMK

Nigerians of different social status, particularly those from Ogun State as well as political groups have lamented the sudden passage of former Minister of Finance, (State), Jubril Martins-Kuye, who died early this morning.

Kuye, who hailed from Ago Iwoye in Ijebu North Local Government Area of Ogun State was said to have died early this morning.

Leading the mourners was former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, who described the third republic senator as a religious leader and compassionate politician.

The former minister for Mines and Steel Development and an ambassador-designate, Chief Sarafa Tunji Isola in his tribute described Martins-Kuye’s death as a painful loss.

However, he gave glory to God for the kind of impactful, mentorship and leadership quality life that he lived.

‘’JMK is an enigma that is worthy of study in the contemporary politics and communal development in Nigeria. A consensus builder in politics and community service, particularly in conflict areas. He promotes equity, justice and fairness in his dealings with followers and associates.

‘’A true democrat and a promoter of internal democracy in the affairs of organization particularly in political parties. As far as JMK is concerned all politics is local, and power must reside with the people.

A consistent leader, who is steadfast in the course of action where he has conviction. He has never switched political parties in his entire political career.

A pragmatic leader that does not suffer fools gladly and always honest with his followers and associates. He protects both the rights of majority and minority in conflicts through a win-win situation at all times.

Isola, who said the late astute administrator and renowned politicians, who studied politics and economy from the premier university, University Ibadan said he was a leader of leaders, hence the nickname – the leading leader

‘’He has produced worthy successors in business, politics, community service and other endeavours of humanity. A God fearing, amiable, decisive, just, equitable and quintessential leader.

In his condolenc message, Daniel said JMK will be greatly missed not only by members of his immediate family, but also by friends, political and business associates for whom he has provided great leadership and compassion.’’

He said: ‘’JMK weaved an intricate web of leadership cutting across religious, politics and corporate lifestyles. He was a great leader reputation for fairness and balance.

Daniel added: ‘’He will be greatly missed by many of us who had tapped into his wisdom. Nigeria will miss him as a great patriot and statesmen whose guidance and directions is needed at this point in the nation’s political journey.

A member of the Ogun State House of Assembly between 2003 and 2011, Hon. Fasiu Bakenne described Kuye as a great leader of honour who will also be greatly missed’’

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, while reacting to the death of the elder statesman, expressed deep sadness over his demise, just as it described his death as the passing away of one one of Ogun’s finest politicians.’’

APC in its Caretaker Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye described the late octogenarian as ‘’an uncommon bridge builder, patriot and a very human, courteous and humble politician whose model was politics without bitterness.’’

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Ogun State, while reacting to Martin-Kuye’s death described it as a sad occurrence.

The party’s factional chairman, Boladale Sanni, a legal practitioner described Kuye’s death as “a huge loss” to the party and the nation given his patriotic contributions and zeal in fighting for unity and stability of our nation’’.

“We have lost a patriotic Nigerian who during his lifetime contributed immensely to the stability of our nation. This is a huge loss to Nigeria and our party (PDP).

“Sen. Kuye’s wealth of experience will be greatly missed. This is a collosal loss. He was a grassroot politician who was always around his people. We have lost a national figure.

“We commiserate with the Kuye family, the Ogun State government, the people of Ogun state, as well as his friends and associates,” Sanni said.

The party prayed that the Almighty God grants eternal repose to the elder statesman’s soul and fortitude to the family and the nation at large, to bear this irreparable loss
