For the youthful ace broadcast journalist, Tobiloba Joseph, it is time to call it quit from the pioneer private radio station in Ogun State, Rockcity 101.FM which he joined and has been working for the past 12 years ago.
Announcing his exit from the station, owned by BOOT COMMUNICATIONS LTD, the man with baritone voice paid glowing tributes to the management of the company as well as his colleagues, both young and old.
While disclosing that his resignation was a move to build his own empire, Tobi admitted that his stay in Rockcity gave him a lot of exposure.

Recalling his stint in the station with nostalgia, Tobi said: “Just like yesterday, my journey in the world of broadcast journalism began with Rockcity 101.9 FM, Abeokuta. I remember that fateful day in 2010 when I walked into the organisation’s premises and I was offered a job as a freelancer immediately, I was to resume work the following day”.

“I joined the Daybreak Show crew headed by Mr Olayemi Bayo who at the time was an experienced and loaded broadcast journalist handling the flagship programme of the station.
“He took me under his wings and helped nurture the crude and unrefined talent and gift God gave me. I will forever be grateful to him and the Executive Director of BOOT COMMUNICATIONS LTD Mrs Bukola Malaolu, who saw something in me and said “Rockcity needs someone like you and we believe you can help out with one of our shows”.

“I met many brilliant and talented staff in the organisation, many left, many came and left and many will still come and leave. Such is life. I will forever cherish the memories we shared. I have to sincerely appreciate my wonderful sister Ify Onyegbule for her friendship and professionalism.
“I definitely learnt a lot from her and I’m sure she learnt from me too. I want to specially appreciate the man who is a true father and teacher, Mr Tokunbo Oloruntola, the Director of News and Current Affairs. That’s the man who taught me a whole lot and to whom I’ll forever be indebted. May he reap the fruits of his labour and may he receives his flowers while he is still here. I also want to appreciate my sister Shirley Oaikhenan for being a true friend, sister and colleague. God bless you”.

“In life, tough decisions have to be made to arrive at one’s destination of destiny and position of glory. I am no stranger to these decisions and I took one few days ago as I resigned my appointment as Head of Presentation, Programs of Rockcity 101.9 fm after 12 years of diligence, hardwork, sacrifice and service.”
“It is time to move on from the old to the new, from good to better and from the past to the future. I have no regrets helping to build another man’s dream, it is just time to build my own dreams.

“My dreams are huge and scary but feasible and achievable with the help of dream builders in friends, mentees, colleagues, fans, sponsors and investors. I do not take you all for granted.”

Tobi concluded his resignation notice by saying: “I will be unveiling my new media company very soon, so stay glued to this page. It’s time to build my own empire. Thanks and God bless you all”.
