It is with heavy heart but total submission to the will of God Almighty that I received the sad news of the death of my political leader and mentor, Senator Jubril Martins Kuye.

Although at the age of 78, Senator Kuye could be said to have lived an eventful, meritorious and fulfilling life for which all glory must go to God; however, his death at this time leaves a big vacuum in the political landscape, not only in Ogun State but also in Nigeria. Certainly, his rich experience and robust contributions to the socio-political development of Nigeria are still greatly needed.

He was a brilliant scholar, an accountant of repute and a consummate public administrator whose tenures as Minister of State for Finance( 1999 2003) and Minister of Commerce and Industry(2010-2011) have left remarkable and indelible marks in the socio-economic attainments of Nigeria.

In the political field, Late Senator Martins Kuye, established himself as a deft and charismatic grassroots politician. His political sagacity imbued with self confidence, elegance and oratorical prowess, earned him great recognition and respect not only from his political associates but also from his political contenders. As his running mate in the Ogun State governorship elections of 1999, I drew a lot of inspiration and political experience from these leadership qualities.

Now that Senator Kuye has answered the sacred call, I condole with his family, associates, people of Ago-Iwoye and Ogun State, in general.

May Almighty Allah accept and grant him Aljanna Fridaus.

Chief Mrs Matilda Iyabode Apampa.
