Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital will on Saturday March 13, 2021, literarily quiver as the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Okukenu, IV will formally instal Hon, (Chief) Olabode Akeem Mustapha as the 9th Osi of Egbaland.
A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the state, Mustapha, the veteran politician, shrewd businessman and consumate administrator was a member of the House of Representatives between 1999 and 2003.
Mustapha’s appointment was announced last December by the Ogun State Government through a letter by the Director, Chieftaincy Affairs in the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The Osi-Egba Chieftaincy title, though a General Titled in Egbaland is a government title which final approval and appointment must always come through the chieftaincy law of Ogun State before installation by the Alake, the prescribed authority for such a title.
Chairman of the organising committee, Chief Bukola Olopade, who is the Jagunmolu of Gbagura, in an interview said eminent Nigerians will grace the occasion.
According to him, the çeremony would be similar to the inauguration of a governor or even a president.
“Members of the Nigeria’s social, political and the organised private sector as well as others are those expected and I can tell you that on March 13, 2021, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital will glow with personalities that are coming to add their colours to the installation of the 9th Osi Egba ceremony”
However, Olopade hinted that aside tight security arrangements that have been put in place at the Ake Palace, the installation venue and at the OOPL – the reception venue, COVID 19 guidelines and protocols will also be strictly observed.
