2019/2020: OGUN STUDENTS TO PAY N3,700 PTA DONATION

As schools in Ogun State get ready to resume academics for the 2019/2020 session, parents and guardians of students in Public Secondary Schools/Technical Colleges have been put on notice for compulsory payment of parents teachers association donation of N3,700.
A circular with reference number EDU. 655/5, dated 27th August, issued by the Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (Department of Secondary Education) stated that the donation had the approval of the state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, based on the request of the PTA.
The donations are stated below:
Computer N500 Termly
PTA Levy N600
TermlySports/Jet/Lit N300 (Termly)
Insurance N500(Once per session)
School materials(Caps, badges, Berets etcNew intakes only.) N1500
File jacket (For new intakes only) N300
The circular signed by Director of Education (Secondary) Akonsolu M.I. on behalf of Permanent Secretary in the ministry states:
”You are also enjoined to adhere strictly with the content of this circular as the state government has zero tolerance to collection of unapproved fees in all public secondary schools/technical colleges” the circular directed.
Meanwhile, the directive has generated unfavorably reactions from parents wondering why a new administration that is yet to constitute its cabinet is asking for donation from parents and guardians.
