Three brothers, who allegedly beat an official of the Ogun State security outfit, ‘’So Safe Corp’’ to death on Christmas’ eve have confessed to the crime.
The suspects, Okiki Mulero 23, Micheal Mulero 21, and Joseph Mulero 17, allegedly inflicted injuries on the late corps officer while on guard duty at OGD Estate Asero which later led to his death.
Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police confirmed the incident.
He added that trouble started when one of the suspects, a commercial cyclist, was denied entry into the estate for carrying more than one passenger contrary to the rule of the estate.
According to Oyeyemi, the guard’s refusal infuriated one of the brothers who called others, who came to the scene and jointly attacked the two security guards with planks.
‘’In the process, one of the security men, Segun Godfrey Barde, was hit with a plank and he slumped.
The PPRO said Barde was subsequently rushed to O&A hospital where he gave up the ghost on Christmas day while receiving treatment.
He said the case was reported at Obantoko Divisional Headquarters by the community development association executives of the estate.
‘’Consequent upon which the Divisional Police Officer, Sunday Opebiyi, a Chief Superintendent of Police, detailed his detectives to go after the suspects who were subsequently apprehended one after the other’’.
The Police officer added that the suspects have all confessed to the commission of the crime,
While the corpse of the victim had been deposited in the mortuary for postmortem examination, Oyeyemi added that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfers of the case to the homicide section of the command’s criminal investigation and intelligence department for further investigation and prosecution.
