Former chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Comrade Tunde Oladunjoye, has returned to his political fold, APC, which he circumstantially left about three months ago.
A founding member of the APC in the state, Oladunjunjoye, in a statement he personally signed, said he took the decision to return to the party after consultations with diversed people including his followers, family members and political friends.
The statement, titled “My Personal Decision” reads: “Since I took a sabbatical from sectarian politics about three months ago, there have been contacts and communications, messages and questions from friends, well wishers, followers, and of course, as expected, sneers from foes alike.
He added: “For me, it was an opportunity for self-assessment and a review of one’s participation in the democratic processes, the past upheavals, the present challenges and future goals. I was happy I really did.
“I was approached by different political parties and I actually held physical meetings and telephone discussions with some. My friends, senior comrades, supporters and politicians not only expressed solidarity, but also their positions/views on my personal decision.
“While some were happy with my decision, majority positioned that it was premature to call it quit and totally and to permanently abstain.
“I became persuaded that it will be a disservice in the long run to abandon the political space to those who were not part of the hard struggle for the attainment of the present democratic dispensation for which comrades paid huge sacrifices and some were actually martyred.
“After due consideration, and with the latest development in Ogun State branch of All Progressives Congress (APC), I have decided to pitch my camp with people of like minds and to cast my lot for Prince (Dr.) Dapo Abiodun MFR.
“It is my entitled view that, all factors considered, “DA” as he is fondly called, is the best among those presently gunning for the seat of governor of Ogun State, and has the indisputable and verifiable capacity, ingenuity, network, local and international connectivity to take Ogun State to the next level.
“Again, I thank all my genuine friends, supporters, followers and well wishers. Not being the least, I thank my wife and children for their understanding and unconditional support always”, Oladunjoye, United Nations Ambassador stated.
