Promotion and teaching of continued peace among the various religious organisations will further strengthen the existing peaceful coexistence and unity of the country.
The Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo disclosed this at the 66th Jalsa Salana of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at, Nigeria held at Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
In a statement by Head, Information Department of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Lawal Jamiu, Osinbajo said that Nigeria would be more prosperous with the spread of love, peace and unity without tribal and religious discrimination.
He  commended the mission which according to him had become famous across the world for their undiluted preachings with focus on promoting the advancement and socio-economic stability of the nation.
In his submission, Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun,  underscored the essence of religious tolerance, saying it was a sine qua non for peace in multi-religious and developing nation like Nigeria.
Amosun, who was conferred with an award of excellence for outstanding leadership quality and courage, posited that it became expedient for members of different faiths to respect each other’s belief, with a view to ensuring stability of religious harmony among their adherents.
Represented by the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraju Ishola Adekunbi, the governor emphasised the importance of tolerance and respect for each other’s belief as the bedrock of religious harmony in any developing society, adding that Islamic tenets were centred on peace and good neighbourliness.
According to him, all religious faithful  should  always demonstrate love and tolerance irrespective of religious beliefs,  while appreciating the Islamic organisation for their prayers and support for the present administration.
Amosun tasked participants at the conference to reflect the teachings of the various facilitators for personal and spiritual growth.
He also assured them of continued support through the creation of conducive and enabling environment  for all religious organisations  to thrive in the state.
Earlier in his lecture titled ‘Self Purification and Submission to Allah as Prerequisite for Reformation of Mankind, the National President/Amir of the mission, Dr. Mushhud Adenrele Fashola,  lamented the corrupt practices and wide spread of immoralities in the country, saying truthfulness and strong faith in Almighty Allah could only bring about  self reformation.
