Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun, may have finally lost out in his desperate bid to replace Prince Dapo Abiodun with his anointed candidate, Abdul-Kabir Adekunle Akinlade, as the governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
President Muhammadu Buhari, whom the governor had been relying upon was said to have declared that he lacked the power to upturn the decision taken by the National Working Committee (NWC) of APC
The stack reality was said to have dawned on Amosun, when he led the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo and the Olu of Ilaro and the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle to a meeting with Buhari I Abuja on Sunday.
Former Minister of State for Education, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo also accompanied Amosun and the traditional rulers to the meeting which was meant to beg the president to Intervene in who fly the flag of APC in the state.
A reliable source told journalists that the president made it clear to Amosun and other visitors that he could not interfere in the party affairs which have been ratified by the NWC .
In a related development, Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Suraj Ishola Adekunbi, has raised the alarm that there are clandestine moves by some members of the national leadership APC to replace his name as the duly elected House of Representatives candidate of the party to represent Egbado North/Imeko-Afon.
In a statement by his Special Assistant, Media Matters, Waheed Akinola in Abeokuta, Adekunbi who hails from Ayetoro, headquarters of Yewa North Local Governmemt Area of the state alleged that there was a news report to that effect.
He furrher stated that there were grand plans were being hatched to trade his mandate for a particular lawmaker currently representing the federal constituency in Abuja.
