Amid alleged theft of the Ogun State House of Assembly official symbol, the mace, the house has passed resolution for immediate replacement of the stolen mace
The Assembly’s mace was allegedly stolen by suspected burglars who broke into the legislative house early hours of today.
Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the incident added that the burglars broke into the speaker’s office through the roof and stole the mace.
He also revealed that the Ogun State Police Commissioner, Edward Ajogun had also visited the legislative complex to assess the situation.
Oyeyemi also disclosed that the Coat of Army symbol had been recovered, adding that other parts of the symbol of authority are yet to be found.
‘We are getting some clues on the perpetrators of the incident and very soon we will arrest everyone that partook in that dastardly act’’ he stated.
It was gathered that although no arrest has been made, the police command had intensified its investigations. ‘’No arrest has been made, but investigations have commenced’’ the PPRO stated..
Meanwhile, the chairman, House Committee on Information, Yusuf Adejojo has denied knowledge of the missing mace, warning members of the public to be wary of the information. ‘’I am not aware that the speaker’s office has been burgled’’ he said.
