OGHA SEEKS WORKS MINISTRY, FG’S INTERVENTION ON ROAD RECONSTRUCTION
Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, .Suraju Ishola Adekunbi, has again called on the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Olamilekan Adegbite, to liase with the Federal Ministry of Power, Works and Housing to devise permanent solution to the failing portions along the Lagos -Abeokuta road as well as Agbara -Atan road.
The call which was in response to the presentations by members representing Ado-Odo/ Ota 1 and II State constituencies, Akinpelu Aina and Akanbi Bankole, who spoke under personal explanation on the need to find a permanent solution to the deplorable portions of the Lagos-Abeokuta between Sango/Ota and Ifo as well as Agbara and Atan Ota road.
Adekunbi, acknowledged that the state government in conjunction with the Federal Government had embarked on palliative measures at different times in the past.
He said that the portion in question was below the sea level, this he noted was responsible for the continuous failing of the road due to perennial flooding.
The speaker sought the collaboration between the two agencies in finding a lasting solution to the roads to ease human and vehicular movements in the areas.
Earlier in his presentation, Aina complained about the slow pace of work at the site, urging the site engineers to increase their pace of work as well as number of labourers in order to ensure the timely completion of the project.
He also suggested the need to include the construction of drainage channels in the project designs for flood control.
In another development, the House has directed the Commissioner for Finance, Wale Osinowo and his Budget and Planning counterpart, Ms Adenrele Adesina, to appear before the it tomorrow, Friday, at 10:00am.
