Oba Adeyemi: Yoruba has lost an historian, revered father – Iyalode

The Iyalode of Yorubaland, Iyalode Alaba Lawson has mourned the transition of Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.
The eminent  Yoruba monarch joined his ancestors on Friday at the Afe Babalola Teaching Hospital, Ekiti after a brief illness.

Lawson  in a condolence message said she received the news of the death with rude shock.
“It is with rude shock that I received the… sudden death of our revered father, King, his Royal Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Aláàfin of Oyo kingdom. His death has come as a rude shock and we pray that the Almighty God will continue to grant him eternal peace”, she wrote.

Iyalode also said that the late monarch  made impact as a historian of Yoruba race and will be greatly  missed as a great historian
“Baba Aláàfin of Ọ̀yọ́, Ikú Baba Yeye has been a king for over five decades and he has made his impact as an historian of Yoruba legacies. 
“We have missed a great historian that will talk without even looking into books and quote without looking into books, a great man of vision who has left his impacts in the sand of time in the whole, entire Yoruba race, the nation at large and the whole world. We are going to miss him and I pray that his soul will rest in perfect peace”, Lawson prayed.
