In very quick succession, 3 eminent professors with whom I had very close relationship over several decades have passed on.
Professor Oye Ibidapo-Obe, my Lecturer of Engineering Mathematics in 1976, my youngest and most down to earth teacher.
He was later to support me by heading the Visitation panel that I set up to review the Olabisi Onabanjo University while I was Governor. The report of that panel remains a reference point till date in the annals of that University. It is a most painful death.
I met Professor Duro Ajeyalemi some 40 years ago and we were founding members of a philanthropic organization known as Ghofa Club. We maintained a closely knit relationship since then till date only for me to hear that he passed this morning.
Prof Odekunle delivered one of my birthday lecture series 14 years ago. He also passed unceremoniously.
O death, where is thy sting? My prayer is that God should take control and stem this dangerous tide.
To the living, especially the elderly 60+, let us observe all safety protocols, this pandemic is real.
I commiserate with family members in this period of grief.
May their gentle souls rest in perfect peace. Amen
