For Dr. Abel Oluyemisi Bamgbose it was joy laced with feeling of fulfillment, as he was appointed Permanent Secretary in the Ogun State Civil Service by the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.
The appointment coming on the day he officially bowed out of the service of Ogun State represents double joy, on one hand for coming out unscathed after years of meritorious service and on the other hand for retiring as a Permanent Secretary, the highest position any civil servant would wish to attain.
Amosun, while performing the swearing- in at the executive chamber of the Governors office said ” This appointment as a Permanent Secretary just as he is bowing out of service was specifically designed to reward diligence , hardwork and selfless service which he is known for “
” I know you are retiring ,but not tired . Bear in mind that you may be called upon at any time to offer your service to the state as you’ve always done”
The governor acknowledged his contribution to the positive image of state, saying the appointment was meant to send a signal to the younger ones that when you work well and serve diligently, there is a reward for it.
Bamgbose, a silent achiever unknown to many people is also a philanthropist who has been impacting his community and those around him positively.
This feat Amosun also acknowledged as he appreciated him for donating blocks of classrooms to some parts of his communities, calling on others to emulate such gesture.
Prior to the swearing – in , the news had filtered around the town when the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Office of the Head of Service, Mrs. Modupeola Bosede, made the announcement in a press statement in Abeokuta, saying the appointment takes immediate effect.
Bamgbose who was until his appointment, a Director in the State Ministry of Information and Strategy, started his career as a Production Assistant with the Ogun State Television (OGTV) in 1983, rose through the ranks to become Assistant General Manager and was recently transferred to the mainstream of the civil service.
