The Association of Ex-Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ASELGON) has described the death of Chief Christopher Alao Akala, a former Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government and former Governor of Oyo State as a great loss to the association, the good people of his state in particular and Nigeria in general.
In a condolence message signed by its National President, Albert Asipa ASELGON said it was painful for the association to lose a dependable and invaluable member like Akala.
“The former governor was among staunch members of our Board of patrons and patronesses led by Senator Ike Ekweremadu who are billed to be inaugurated in Abuja this month.
“Just last week, he requested for our needs at the National Secretariat and promised to be one of the leaders that would lift the association to higher level.
“The former gorvernor of Oyo State, fondly called ‘O yato Governor’ by political associates was a deft grassroots politician who rose through the ranks of political participation as a local government chairman to become the governor of his state and national figure in Nigeria polity”
“As our formal member, he will greatly be missed by the entire ASELGON family. We pray to Almighty God to rest his soul in eternal peace” Asipa stated
